Yell Less, Love More: Simple Ways To Parent Without Anger – Part 2

Actor's face, a compilation of emotionsOur First Book Club, based on the book, “Yell Less, Love More” by Sheila McCraith, went off without a hitch on Tuesday evening. In our last post, I shared with you some of the questions and comments that came up in our discussion.

In our handout that I compiled for the book club, I wrote down some sayings that the author had quoted in her book. I thought they were great springboards for discussion. However, we had so much to say on our own, we didn’t even get to them. I figured, I would write them down here and see what you have to say!

Here they are:

“The parent exists to teach the child, but also they must learn what the child has to teach them; and the child has a very great deal to teach them.” –Arnold Bennett

“Face your deficiencies and acknowledge them; but do not let them master you. Let them teach you patience, sweetness, insight.”- Helen Keller

“The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.”- John Powell

“One cannot too soon forget his errors and misdemeanors; for to dwell upon them is to add to the offense.” –Henry David Thoreau

“It is impossible for you to be angry and laugh at the same time. Anger and laughter are mutually exclusive and you have the power to choose either.” –Wayne Dwyer

“If we magnified our successes as much as we magnify our disappointments we’d all be much happier.” –Abraham Lincoln

“If you have made mistakes, even serious mistakes, there is always another chance for you. You may have a fresh start any moment you choose, for this thing we call failure is not the falling down, but the staying down.” –Mary Pickford
