There are lots of educational toys and games that we love in our family. Really, some of them I loved to play with as kids and I just bought them for my family. These are great because they have nothing to do with electronics, no TV, no video games, just some regular fun.
Here are some of the games we like to play:
1. Colorku:
It is a really cool version of Sudoko. So if your kids are bored of playing the numbers game, this is a great alternative. (By the way, I have not figured out how to play this game!)
2. Backgammon:
This was a favorite of mine growing up. I was the reigning champion as a kid. However, my husband is much better at it than me. I have been dethroned but I still love to play.
3. Memory:
This is a great game for kids, and also for adults. Helps build memory in people of all ages!
4. Husker Du:
Another great game from my childhood. Similar to memory but it takes a lot less time to set up the board.
5.Lego
My kids love legos. My older kids have moved on to the more complex sets, but they still love the original ones.
6. Rummikub
We probably play this game the most in our house. Again, it is a great game for all ages.
